The first thing you want to do is be sure that you have true aromatherapy candles. Scented candles are not aromatherapy candles. Make sure they contain pure essential oils.
There are many different types of aromatherapy candles to help treat a variety of conditions. For instance if you are wanting something that will invigorate you because you are tired from work or dealing with the kids, take a break and light an aromatherapy candle for energy containing oils such as peppermint, spearmint, basil, and eucalyptus. Some other good energy oils are cedar, rosemary, cinnamon, and vanilla.
If you need to relax because you are all revved up from work or you have trouble relaxing to go to sleep you will want to burn a relaxing aromatherapy candle containing oils like lavender, chamomile, geranium and rose.
To help you increase concentration, use aromatherapy candles with lemon, orange, grapefruit, lemongrass, and bergamot oils to help block out distractions and help your creativity.
Aromatherapy candles can do a lot for creating atmosphere as well. If you want to have a quiet romantic evening at home with someone special and you have already gone out of your way to make everything else right, aromatherapy candles can offer that finishing touch. After you have cooked up a fabulous gourmet dinner and have set the table with fine china and crystal topped off with a vase of fresh cut flowers, light an aromatherapy candle that creates sensuality with oils like vanilla, neroli, rose, clary sage, sandalwood.
Always keep in mind that if you are burning multiple candles, only group those of the same type. Don’t light relaxing and invigorating candles at the same time, they will compete with each other and the loser will be you.
Remember, aromatherapy candles aren’t just for company and special occasions; you can use them everyday to increase your own quality of life. Aromatherapy candles can go a long way to giving you pleasure with very little exertion on your part.

ANSWERS FROM SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND ONLY PLEASE.
Where can I buy, cheap/inexpensive, long lasting, really well perfumed/scented candles, in Scotland or England?
Do you know of any company that offers free samples of their perfumed/scented candles ?
My friend has just bought big scented candles from instore (our poundstretchers as it was previously known). I think they were £1.50 each and she said she’s not even lit them yet as they give such a nice smell round her house anyway! Hope you find some!

Burning Candles Has Such a Beautiful History That you Can Read on
Author: WendyDec 31
Maybe our modern mind associates burning candles with the creation of a quiet and even romantic atmosphere in the intimacy of a cozy place, but things used to be different in the past when burning candles was a necessity. In times when electricity could have seemed a science fiction achievement, candles were the only way to light homes at night; nevertheless, even then, for some, burning candles was a privilege. When we think of candles we may imagine the beautiful shapes, colors and scents that are part of the features of modern wax work, but things used to be quiet different two centuries ago.
Burning candles made of bees wax was a privilege reserved to the aristocracy and the clergy; the poor made candles of animal lard, and they were neither clean nor perfumed. On the contrary, burning candles meant a very heavy smell and lots of smoke in the houses of those for whom bees wax was a luxury beyond reach. On the other hand, the nobles lit their huge castles with chandeliers with hundreds of burning candles; the great advantage of bees wax is that it burns in the cleanest of ways: no dripping and no smoke. Such a feature also makes wax candles the only acceptable choice for the religious service even today.
Besides the very practical side of burning candles, one cannot ignore the mystical and even esoteric dimension attached to the custom. We can understand the deep roots of such traditions if we merely think of the importance of burning candles on major ceremonial occasions in one’s life: we burn candles to celebrate Christian baptisms, weddings, birthdays and so on. All cultures have a peculiar symbolism related to burning candles, regardless of whether we refer to witchcraft, Buddhist relaxation methods or Christian sermons. All practices have a common reference point: the creation of an atmosphere that allows the happy meeting of the physical and the spiritual.
There are even cultural traditions related to burning candles at the windows in times of war; this meant that someone dear in the family: husband, son or brother, was on the battlefield facing death. The candles in the window stood for hope and a happy return of the beloved; as long as the burning candles were there, one could not go the wrong way, and the path home was easy to find. Many other traditions connected to burning candles remain buried in history, but those which have managed to survive to this day are somehow part of mankind’s spiritual heritage.
Colour Therapy and Candle Therapy
Author: WendyDec 31
Using candles as therapy has been around for thousands of years, and has been practiced by nearly every religion from the ancient Egyptians to the present day. The candle flame provides a focus and candle therapy can be used to unite the powers of mind, body, and spirit. Candles have lit our way through many millennia not only as the only source of light but also symbolically as the flame of life in celebrations and ceremonies, proclamations and processions. Candle light creates an almost hypnotic and tranquil atmosphere that allows the mind to drift off into a very special place or retreat from the pressures of every day life.
A candle acts as a reflection of our selves as we would like to be and helps us plan how we can bring about positive change to make our dreams come true. On a spiritual level, the candle reflects the spiritual changes we would like to bring about in ourselves. The candle flame acts as a reminder and a symbol of our burning desires. Sometimes we have to allow our subconscious to take over and allow a force more powerful than we are to give us guidance. Simply lighting a candle of a particular colour or essential oil will assist in other therapy methods such as colour breathing and visualisation.
Candle therapy is important in colour therapy and to assist in meditation as it is the vibration of the flame that helps put you in touch with our spiritual or higher self. The colour of the candle and the aroma of scented candles is a way of including the colours you need to correct any imbalance in your aura or chakras. However, you do not need to light them as simply having them as a decoration to look at with also assist in the colour therapy healing process. You should never blow out a candle as folklore has it that it will offend the fire element and the spirits, candles should be extinguished using a snuffer or by dunking in the molten wax.
